Understanding flanges, fittings & bolting

Compare the functions and applications in this category, then use the catalogue filters to narrow your requirement. Each topic includes detailed selection information and an enquiry form.

Weld neck, slip-on and blind flanges

Flanges form bolted connections in piping and equipment. Weld-neck and slip-on types connect to pipe using different geometries, while blind flanges close an opening. Matching dimensions and facing are essential for assembly.

Process piping, equipment nozzles and maintenance isolation points use flanged connections. The project piping class normally defines the permitted materials and connection details.

Elbows, tees and reducers

Elbows change pipe direction, tees create branches and reducers connect different line sizes. Butt-weld fittings become part of the pressure-containing piping system and need compatible materials, wall thickness and end preparation.

Plant piping, gathering lines and utility networks use these fittings to connect equipment and route process streams around a facility.

Forged and branch fittings

Forged fittings connect small-bore piping through threaded or socket-weld joints. Branch outlets such as weldolets, sockolets and threadolets provide a connection from a larger run pipe to a branch of the specified geometry.

Instrument takeoffs, drains, vents and process branches use these components. The run-pipe dimensions and the project's connection requirements affect the selected branch fitting.

Stud bolts, nuts and fasteners

Stud bolts, nuts and other fasteners secure flanges, equipment and structures. Bolting performance depends on the matched assembly, material properties, dimensions and installation requirements rather than the bolt diameter alone.

Pressure connections, equipment maintenance and structural attachments use different bolting specifications. A complete set may include compatible nuts, washers and an approved coating.

Pipe supports, hangers and spring supports

Pipe supports transfer piping loads to the surrounding structure and control movement. Hangers suspend piping, while spring supports accommodate specified vertical travel and load variation within the support design.

Process pipework, utility lines and hot-service installations use supports derived from the piping layout and stress analysis. Equipment connections may require specific movement allowances.
