Understanding pipeline integrity & intervention

Compare the functions and applications in this category, then use the catalogue filters to narrow your requirement. Each topic includes detailed selection information and an enquiry form.

Hot tapping and line stopping

Hot-tapping equipment supports an engineered connection to an existing pressurized line. Line-stopping equipment provides a specified temporary isolation arrangement. These are specialist pipeline-intervention functions governed by a project-specific design and work programme.

Pipeline modification and maintenance may use these methods when the operator's engineering assessment permits the work. Pipe condition and operating medium are central inputs.

Pigging and inspection tools

Pipeline pigs travel through a line to perform functions such as cleaning, gauging or inspection. Inspection tools incorporate measurement systems, while cleaning and geometry-checking tools have different constructions and objectives.

Commissioning, maintenance and integrity programmes use pigs selected for the pipeline's dimensions and configuration. Launcher, receiver, bends and bore changes affect suitability.

Repair clamps and isolation plugs

Repair clamps enclose or reinforce a defined area of piping according to a selected repair design. Isolation plugs provide temporary isolation for specified systems. Their operating duties and qualification requirements differ.

Pipeline and plant maintenance may use these products after engineering assessment of the line and intended work. Existing damage and access conditions affect selection.

Leak detection and corrosion monitoring

Leak-detection systems identify signals associated with potential loss of containment, while corrosion monitoring tracks selected indicators of material degradation. The technologies produce different information for the asset-integrity programme.

Pipelines, process equipment and gathering systems use fixed or portable monitoring. Location, fluid behavior and the required detection objective influence the appropriate method.

Cathodic protection equipment

Cathodic protection equipment forms part of an engineered system intended to reduce corrosion of specified metallic structures. Sacrificial-anode and impressed-current arrangements use different components and design inputs.

Buried pipelines, tanks and submerged structures may use cathodic protection alongside compatible coatings and monitoring. The environment and structure determine the design basis.
